Had another lovely day working with the folks at Syndenham Court, as we all love a cuppa, we have decided the theme for our project will be tea.

Tea has a big role in life, vital for catch ups, settling nerves, breaking the ice, relaxing after a long day and is at the basis for a good natter!

Here are some images of our work today - mono prints made by inking up a base plate and then layering inked up cut outs. A simple technique, that I think works well even with just two colours to make bold colourful images.

It has been a while since I’ve blogged! I will still post up some art stuff but decided for the mean time to blog about the preparations for my wedding, still rather a long time to go but I’ve started to gather up some bits and pieces so thought I’d share.

Although a lot of magazine and blogs are posting up how to do handmade weddings, I keep seeing posts on facebook/pinterest about when a do it yourself has gone wrong and professional wedding businesses trying to put off people making stuff themselves.

My sister Emma got married last year and pulled of a very handmade wedding very successfully and beautifully! (you can see pics here - http://longshotpress.tumblr.com/page/2). Which slightly adds to the pressure of handmade fabulousness! But I am going to try!

My lovely other half proposed to me on the 4th of August last year with this beautiful necklace made by Northern Irish silversmith Stuart Cairns (http://www.stuartcairns.com/stuartcairns.com/Folio.html)

Our date is picked in October 2014! It still feels along way off but have started to do a few bits and pieces and I’m planning to start making my dress this summer!

My final degree show was an installation but since graduating in 2006 I have not had the opportunity to make any installations (mainly as I am a broke artist and figure I need to make a bit of a living selling prints and paintings and no one is likely to pay money for the greenhouse installation I made!)

Maybe sometime in the future i will get back to making installations in the mean time I must say thank you to Alecshao and Gaksdesigns for the many amazing installation posts they put up, that keep me inspired and day dream about the things i might create in the future!
